Licensure and Accreditation

The 51ºÚÁÏÍø is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE) and the Connecticut Office of Higher Education. 51ºÚÁÏÍø’s School of Nursing is a member of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN).

Licensure

The associate degree in Nursing program at 51ºÚÁÏÍø is approved by the State of CT Board of Examiners for Nursing.

The traditional and accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing pre-licensure program is approved by the Connecticut Board of Examiners for Nursing and licensed by the Connecticut Office of Higher Education.

The RN to BSN Completion post-licensure program is approved and licensed by the Connecticut Office of Higher Education.

Notice of upcoming CCNE accreditation review
Invitation for third-party comments

The 51ºÚÁÏÍø School of Nursing is pleased to announce that an accreditation review by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) is scheduled.

In accordance with CCNE accreditation procedures, the School of Nursing is notifying students, faculty, alumni, clinical partners, and other interested constituents of the opportunity to submit written third-party comments regarding the nursing program(s) under review.

Written third-party comments must be received by CCNE no later than September 28, 2026.

Comments must be submitted directly to the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) at: thirdpartycomments@ccneaccreditation.org

All third-party comments must be written in English, consistent with CCNE's policy on Conduct of Business in English.

Third-party comments should address the program's qualifications for accreditation and should relate to the CCNE Standards for Accreditation. CCNE will share third-party comments with the evaluation team prior to the accreditation evaluation. Comments are not shared with the 51ºÚÁÏÍø School of Nursing, the CCNE Accreditation Review Committee, or the CCNE Board of Commissioners during the review process.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing

The baccalaureate degree in Nursing and master’s degree in Education and Leadership programs at 51ºÚÁÏÍø are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), 655 K Street NW, Suite 750, Washington, DC 20001, 202-887-6791.

Associate degree in Nursing

Effective April 27, 2026, this Nursing program is a candidate for initial accreditation by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing. This candidacy status expires in spring 2028.

Note: Upon granting of initial accreditation by the ACEN Board of Commissioners, the effective date of initial accreditation is the date on which the nursing program was approved by the ACEN as a candidate program that concluded in the Board of Commissioners granting initial accreditation.
